MISSION:The University Archives identifies, collects, and preserves significant non-current information regarding Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) from the university’s inception to the present. Documents collected by the archives consist of materials relating to university history, policies, and governance. In addition, the University Archives organizes and describes its records, and makes them available for research and reference to the university and external communities in accordance with established FGCU Library procedures for confidentiality, copyright, and access.
COLLECTION POLICY: The University Archives is responsible for the collection and maintenance of records concerning FGCU that possess permanent administrative and historical value. Documents preserved by the Archives may relate to the university as a whole; its component academic or administrative units; trustees; officers; faculty; staff; alumni; or external community.

Pertinent statutes and rules

Official documents

Use of Materials
FGCU Library policy regarding access to library materials by members of the University and external communities shall be in effect, with the following exceptions:
Archives materials may only be used on-site.
Archives materials will not be available on interlibrary loan.
Access will not be provided to minors unless accompanied by a responsible adult.
Archives Rules
Researchers shall register each day they wish to use archival material, furnishing their name, address, telephone number, and proper identification.
The quantity of records to be delivered to a researcher at one time may be limited.
When requested, researchers shall acknowledge receipt of records by signature.
Researchers are responsible for all records delivered to them until they are returned.
Researchers shall exercise all possible care to prevent damage to records.
Researchers shall not remove records from the designated place of use.
Researchers must keep unbound records in the order in which they are delivered to them.
Copying of records will normally be done by Archives personnel. The University policy on charges for copying shall be in effect.
Restrictions regarding prohibition of food and drink in the FGCU Library shall apply to the Archives.
