American Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) A professional association that provides programs and services to promote the highest standards of school business management practices, professional growth, and the effective use of educational resources.
American Education Research Association (AERA) is devoted to improving the educational process by encouraging scholarly inquiry related to education and by promoting the dissemination and practical application of research results.
Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) For leaders in elementary, middle, and secondary education and others interested in curriculum, instruction, supervision, and leadership in schools. Contains the journal Educational Leadership.
Council for Exceptional Children is the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for students with disabilities, and/or the gifted. This site contains links to numerous resources.
Council of Chief State School Officers is an organization of state education officials who helped develop the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC) standards.
Council of the Great City Schools,
a coalition of nearly 60 of the nation's largest urban public school systems.
Education Commission of the States (ECS) was created in 1965 to improve public education by facilitating the exchange of information, ideas and experiences among state policymakers and education leaders. State governors take an active part in ECS deliberations. This is a great source of information on current and future policy issues.
