Resource Spotlight: Business

The library has recently subscribed to two additional databases to make searching for business information easier!

SRDS Local Market Audience Analyst

SRDS Local Market Audience Analyst provides market information for all 210 Designated Market Areas (DMAs) and all 3,000+ U.S. counties. You can explore the data by market, demographic variable, lifestyle behavior, and industry-standard PRIZM reports. Nielsen Claritas (the survey people) provides the data and it’s updated as new information becomes available. Find basic demographic data for any area of the country, or combine categories to explore lifestyle behaviors and market potential - the possibilities are practically endless!

Mergent Online

Mergent Online will be familiar to those who have ever used Moody’s Manuals or heard of Moody’s ratings.  It is easy to locate business and financial data for over 11,000 U.S. and 17,000 foreign public companies. For each public company you can find up to 15 years of financial data and 10 years of annual reports. Corporate bond data is provided within the financial reports. Looking for hard to find information on a private company?  Mergent incorporates information from Dun & Bradstreet on over 1 million private companies with financials for about 1/3 of those companies.  The database also includes extensive country profiles with a slant toward their business climate, and world-wide industry surveys for the past six years. View the online demo.

Of course you’ll want to cite your source, but the reports from each of these databases may be downloaded for ease of use.  Take a look at these great new databases to see how beneficial they can be to your research!
