Simeon Komisar, Ph.D. and Edwin Everham, Ph.D.: September 2021 FGCU Author Series Honorees

Congratulations to Simeon Komisar, Ph.D. and Edwin Everham, Ph.D., our 84th honorees in the FGCU Author Series of recently published books authored or edited by FGCU faculty and staff.  Drs. Komisar and Everham’s book Making the Sustainable University: Trials and Tribulations will be featured on the FGCU Library’s digital media channels during September 2021 and displayed on a poster on the first floor of Library West in the FGCU Authors area.

Dr. Simeon Komisar holds a M.S. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Massachusetts and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington. Prior to his appointment at FGCU, he was an Associate Professor and Undergraduate Program Coordinator for Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. His expertise is in water and wastewater engineering, renewable energy and sustainability.  Dr. Komisar was appointed the Backe Chair of Renewable Energy in 2019, and currently serves as the Program Director of Environmental Engineering at FGCU.

Dr. Edwin Everham earned his Ph.D. in Environmental and Forest Biology from the State University of New York. His research investigates how ecosystems respond to disturbance evens that have occurred through evolutionary time as well as those driven by humans. Prior to coming to Florida, he served as a founding faculty member of the New College of Global Studies at Radford University in Virginia. Dr. Everham joined the faculty of FGCU in 1996 and has been instrumental in the development of the environmental science and studies degree programs.

Making the Sustainable University: Trials and Tribulations includes chapters authored by the following FGCU faculty and staff members in addition to Drs. Komisar and Everham:

Throughout the year, a recent book authored by FGCU staff or faculty is selected and recognized in a variety of ways.  FGCU faculty and staff are encouraged to notify the relevant subject specialist librarian if they publish a book.
