Refworks Transition

Florida Gulf Coast University's access to RefWorks, including the legacy and “new” platforms, will end on December 31, 2020. Users with active RefWorks accounts must migrate their citations to a new citation management software before this date.

Alternative citation management tools are available to FGCU users at no charge, including EndNote Basic, Zotero and Mendeley.

Exporting Refworks Citations

Effective December 31, 2020, FGCU Library will no longer have access to RefWorks.  Users must export references from their RefWorks account and into another citation manager including Endnote Basic, Zotero, or Mendeley.

If you need assistance exporting references from RefWorks, contact your subject librarian or Ask Us.

Exporting Refworks PDFs

Export PDFs

Exporting your Refworks library will not include your PDF files. You must download each PDF file individually or link your Refworks to Dropbox. 

To link your Refworks to Dropbox:

  1. Log in to Refworks
  2. Click on your name (top right)
  3. Click on Settings
  4. Scroll down the Settings options to Dropbox
  5. Following instructions to link to a Dropbox folder
  6. Once linked, your PDF files should all appear in the designated Dropbox folder
  7. For extra precaution, move or copy the PDF files to another folder
