Activated: Data Visualization Wall in Library West

by Anna Karras on 2023-03-29T10:39:00-04:00 in Technology | 0 Comments

The library’s newest addition is finally up and running! Library West is now equipped with a top-of-the-line data visualization wall which can be used by students, staff, faculty and whoever else may need it.

Those wishing to reserve the wall can head to library.fgcu.edu/datavizwall. Anyone wishing to use the wall must go through a training process with Matthew Losey, our Creative Commons Lab Coordinator, in order to maintain the quality of the area and ensure everything goes smoothly during use. Once you have gone through an orientation session, you will be registered to use the wall and can sign up for a time slot.

The wall is made up of 16 different screens, which can project anything from photos to interactive note apps. Students using the wall for studying purposes, can reserve four screens at a time. This is a great opportunity to tutor your peers or study in a group without having to gather around a little computer or phone screen. The wall is equipped with HDMI cables to connect your device, but users must bring their own adapters if that does not fit their computer.

Faculty or groups can also get in contact with Matthew about using the screen for appropriate events or presentations. In fact, the library’s own monthly Scholar Series will be moving to this space! Join us for a free lunch and presentation on interesting new topics on the last Wednesday of each month from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and enjoy the opportunity to meet with some of FGCU’s top scholars.
