Browse our Leisure Reading Collection

by Anna Karras on 2023-05-03T09:48:00-04:00 | 0 Comments

This year we have welcomed our newest collection of books available for students, faculty and staff and community members at FGCU: the Leisure Reading Collection.

After reading studies on how reading for leisure can boost academic success, Social Sciences Librarian Steve Rokusek and Library Collections Management Specialist II Mackenzie Williams decided the library needed a section where students and staff can go to read for pleasure.

Located on the first floor of Library West by the new Data Visualization Wall, Williams and Rokusek have bestselling authors and titles displayed. There is even a form on the library’s website where students can go to request new books for the collection. (https://library.fgcu.edu/Leisure/suggestion_form

Books in the Leisure Collection, like many of our books, are available for delivery to the residence hall. Just go to our website, find the book you want and “request” our Library Delivery Express service to get your favorite stories delivered straight to your residence hall. You can even send them back to us this way, never needing to leave your reading nook in order to get your new books.

This collection includes fiction, nonfiction and graphic novel content, so there’s always something for everyone! And if you’re not at the library, you can still browse the collection virtually by going to the Leisure Reading Collection guide at https://library.fgcu.edu/Leisure/Home

Head on over to the Leisure Reading Collection on the first floor of Library West anytime the library is open to pick up something that will help take your mind off your studies, and you may just find your new favorite book!
