Congratulations to Paul Bartrop, Ph.D., our 77th honoree in the FGCU Author Series of recently published books authored or edited by FGCU faculty and staff. Dr. Bartrop and Eve Grimm’s book Perpetrating the Holocaust : leaders, enablers, and collaborators will be featured on the FGCU Library’s digital media channels during December 2020 and displayed on a poster on the first floor of Library West in the FGCU Authors and New Books area.
Paul R. Bartrop is a multi-award-winning scholar of the Holocaust and genocide. He is Visiting Professorial Fellow at the University of New South Wales, Canberra. He was formerly Professor of History and Director of the Center for Holocaust and Genocide Research at Florida Gulf Coast University, Fort Myers, Florida. Across an extensive academic career, he has taught at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, Virginia Commonwealth University, Deakin University, the University of South Australia, and Monash University. The author, editor, or co-editor of over 25 books, his published works with ABC-CLIO include (with Eve E. Grimm) Children of the Holocaust (2020); Perpetrating the Holocaust: Leaders, Enablers, and Collaborators (2019); Modern Genocide: Analyzing the Controversies and Issues (2018); The Holocaust: An Encyclopedia and Document Collection (2017); Resisting the Holocaust: Upstanders, Partisans, and Survivors (2016); Modern Genocide: The Definitive Resource and Document Collection (2015); Encountering Genocide: Personal Accounts from Victims, Perpetrators, and Witnesses (2014); and An Encyclopedia of Contemporary Genocide Biography: Portraits of Evil and Good (2012). He was Vice-President of the Midwest Jewish Studies Association and is a Past President of the Australian Association of Jewish Studies.
Eve E. Grimm was formerly a Senior Advisor to the Center for Holocaust and Genocide Research at Florida Gulf Coast University, Fort Myers, Florida. A lawyer with advanced qualifications in law, after a working life in government service as a senior attorney she has written about the German legal profession during the Nazi period and the Holocaust. Having formerly taught in the School of Law at Monash University, Melbourne, she was one of the legal team that provided comment on the State of Victoria’s racial vilification legislation and was for many years a member of the B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission in Australia, during which she prepared numerous briefs relating to antisemitism. Her published work has appeared in the journal Without Prejudice, and she was a key contributor to The Holocaust: An Encyclopedia and Document Collection (2017). In 2019 she co-authored (with Paul R. Bartrop) the ABC-CLIO volume Perpetrating the Holocaust: Leaders, Enablers, and Collaborators, and in 2020 she and Paul R. Bartrop co-wrote Children of the Holocaust (ABC-CLIO).
Throughout the year, a recent book authored by FGCU staff or faculty is selected and recognized in a variety of ways. FGCU faculty and staff are encouraged to notify the relevant subject specialist librarian if they publish a book.
