Congratulations to Michael Salmond, MFA, our 83rd honoree in the FGCU Author Series of recently published books authored or edited by FGCU faculty and staff. Mr. Salmond’s book Video Game Level Design will be featured on the FGCU Library’s digital media channels during August 2021 and displayed on a poster on the first floor of Library West in the FGCU Authors and New Books area.
Mr. Salmond completed his undergraduate studies in media arts at Plymouth University in the UK, and earned his Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of South Florida. Today, he is an Associate Professor and coordinator of the Digital Media Design BA program at FGCU’s Bower School of Music & the Arts. His research focuses on the theory and practice of interactive media and videogames, especially the intersections between design, art and technology. He is the author and creator of a number of publications and exhibitions, including the previous books The Fundamentals of Interactive Design and Video Game Design Practices & Principles: From the Ground Up. Throughout the year, a recent book authored by FGCU staff or faculty is selected and recognized in a variety of ways. FGCU faculty and staff are encouraged to notify the relevant subject specialist librarian if they publish a book.
