It sometimes happens that we don’t have the book or article you need and you must place a special request for us to obtain it. Whether it’s across the state or across the country, we’re happy to get what you require. This summer, the University Library has consolidated our interlibrary loan system to make it easier and more streamlined with our patrons in mind. We have also increased the number of institutions we can borrow items from, increasing your chances of receiving exactly what you need.

Before, our patrons had to log in to a separate system, “Illiad”, to place a request.  Now books and articles can be requested directly from within the library catalog. Here’s how:

  1. Sign in to the Library Catalog/Eagle Search using your FGCU credentials.
  2. Search for your item, click on "expand your search", if item doesn't show in the results.
  3. Click on "Get it for me from other libraries". (Note: This will only be visible if it is not available from us directly.)
  4. Choose the offer tile that matches the type of request you'd like to receive. (physical or digital copy.)

This will save time for our patrons, who will receive their materials even faster than before.
