EBP journal editors and authors use predetermined criteria to select original research and review articles that report scientifically sound and clinically relevant results. Clinical experts provide value-added comments, describing the objectives, methods, results, and conclusions of the research, and then evaluation of the studies relative to the clinical context. Some examples of EBP journals include:
ACP Journal Club - “The purpose is to select from the biomedical literature articles that report original studies and systematic reviews that warrant immediate attention by physicians attempting to keep pace with important advances in internal medicine. These articles are summarized in value-added abstracts and commented on by clinical experts.”
Bandolier: Evidence-Based Health Care - "The first issue of Bandolier, an independent journal about evidence-based healthcare, written by Oxford scientists... was printed in February 1994. It has appeared monthly ever since and has become the premier source of evidence based healthcare information in the UK and worldwide for both healthcare professionals and consumers."
Evidence-Based Nursing (1988 to present) - “A journal of quality appraised abstracted research relevant to nursing practice.” BMJ Publishing Group.
Evidence-Based Mental Health - "Evidence-Based Mental Health aims to engage psychiatrists and psychologists, particularly younger professionals, in the challenge of basing their practice on evidence."
Journal of Evidence-Based Complementary & Alternative Medicine - Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine seeks to apply scientific rigor to the study of complementary and alternative medicine, emphasizing on health outcome, while documenting biological mechanisms of action.
