Additional Resources on Race

Website Resources

The sources listed on this page are not FGCU resources.  They are a sampling of news agencies with dedicated pages covering race and racism, organizations that support the movements sweeping the nation today, publicly available video sources, and a selection of archival material from local and abroad.  These sources offer a broad scope of information beyond our campus.

There are countless resources available on the internet on any and every topic. Most of these sites do not undergo a review process, so you should closely evaluate any internet sources you find in order to ensure they contain credible information. Some things you should consider when evaluating internet resources:

  • When was the resource published/posted/last updated
  • Who is the intended audience?
  • Who is the author/publisher/source and are they qualified to write on the topic?
  • What is the domain of the website?
  • Is the information supported by evidence?
  • Is the purpose of the information to inform/teach/sell/entertain/persuade?
  • Is the information fact or opinion?

You may also wish to check something like the Media Bias Chart or Media Bias/Fact Check when evaluating news resources.

“Ignorance and prejudice are the handmaidens of propaganda. Our mission, therefore, is to confront ignorance with knowledge, bigotry with tolerance, and isolation with the outstretched hand of generosity. Racism can, will, and must be defeated.” --Koffi Annan
