To access SciFinder, you must create an account using your FGCU email address and log in each time.

What is SciFinder?

SciFinder is provided by Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS), a division of the American Chemical Society. SciFinder is "a research discovery application that provides integrated access to the world's most comprehensive and authoritative source of references, substances, and reactions in chemistry and related sciences."

SciFinder includes the following 7 databases:

  • CAS Registry - chemical substances
  • CAplus - references to journal articles, patents, etc.
  • CASREACT - chemical reactions
  • CHEMLIST - regulated chemicals
  • CHEMCATS - chemical suppliers
  • CIN – Chemical Industry Notes
  • MARPAT - Markush structures and patents
