Building your family tree is one of the most fun and rewarding parts of genealogy as you get to see your hard work come together in a visualization that shows our family bonds. It's a wonderful project to work on as a family, as well. For great list of how-to guides about doing genealogy with kids and building your family tree, check out AAA State of Play's Genealogy for Kids: Building a Family Tree page. These guides include building the actual family tree, tracing your ancestors, and even understanding what complicated relationships like "first cousin once removed" mean.
*Thank you to Lily and Isaac for recommending this lovely site!
Here you will find a ton of websites that can help you on your genealogical journey. These are all free to use and can be of great help in your research. However, not everything will help everyone, and I can't promise that I've found all the resources that are available. If you ever find something useful that you think should be on here or discover a problem with one of the resources I've listed, please let me know at rtait@fgcu.edu.
