What is Digital Humanities?

It is no simple task to define the broad and constantly developing field of Digital Humanities. Melissa Terras of University College London defines it as "computational methods that are trying to understand what it means to be human, in both our past and present society." This is a simplification, to be sure, but one that gets at the essence of the field.
