POLICY STATEMENT
The FGCU Library has several public work spaces available with the capacity to accommodate groups of two or more library users at a time. These spaces are intended for use by small groups with the need to collaborate on group projects or study for academic assignments. In order to facilitate as many groups as possible, a system is in place that provides organized and dependable access to group study rooms. This policy is designed to provide access to group study rooms through reservation booking by library users in a fair and efficient manner.

DEFINITION OF TERMS
Group study room – Designated spaces within the Library with capacity to accommodate groups of two or more library users engaged in collaborative scholarly activity.
PROCEDURES (if applicable)
Loan period:
- Group study rooms may be reserved by placing a reservation through the Library website.
- Group study rooms may be reserved for up to 2 hours, with up to 2 reservations per day per student.
- Reservations may be made up to a week (7 days) in advance.
- Reservations are confirmed by text or email message sent to the library user.
Equipment:
- Group study rooms are equipped with white boards, study tables and chairs. Most are equipped with displays and ScreenBeam devices.
- Wireless network is available throughout the Library building, including group study rooms.
- Dry erase markers and erasers for white boards are available for checkout at the Circulation Desk.
Procedures:
- Group study rooms are available to FGCU affiliates.
- Group study rooms are intended for use by small groups working together.
- Group study rooms may be reserved by placing a reservation through the Library website.
- Reservations are confirmed by text or email message sent to the library user.
- Library users will arrive at their reserved room and use the room during their reserved time period.
- Group study rooms are to remain unlocked at all times, and personal items cannot be secured.
- Use of the room must be completed at the end of the specified reservation time period and all users in the group must vacate the group study room.
User Responsibilities:
- Please cancel unwanted reservations for the consideration of others.
- The library user who places the reservation is the responsible party for the conduct of the group, and the condition of the room at the end of the reservation period.
- Report any damage to or problems with the room to the Circulation Desk immediately.
- If food is served or consumed in the room, tables must be cleaned and garbage disposed of at the end of the reservation period.
- Do not cover windows and doors with paper or any materials that will prevent monitoring of activities in the group study room.
- All users in the group must vacate the group study room at the end of the reservation period.
RELATED INFORMATION
- Any use of a group study room that disturbs other users or regular library operations is not permitted.
- The library assumes no liability for theft of, or damage to, personal property of library users.
