Library Textbook Information for Faculty
The library purchases some textbooks to support textbook affordability for students. Electronic versions of books are preferred, as they are generally more accessible to more students. Print textbooks will be held in the Course Reserves area at the Circulation Desk.
Contact your subject librarian if you would like them to investigate the possibility of purchasing your course textbook and making it available in the library.
Reading Lists and Textbooks
The library creates online "reading lists" for courses each semester. We start those reading lists with required textbook information we get from the bookstore. If the library owns a print or electronic copy of the textbook, there will be a link or location information linked to that citation. If we do not own the textbook, only the title and ISBN information will appear, along with an indication that the book is available from the bookstore.

What is the point of these lists you may wonder? If the library owned a copy of the book it would help show students that it was available (example). Instructors can also add additional resources if there are more articles, websites, or videos that are recommended (example).
These lists can be embedded in Canvas to help connect students easily with library-owned materials.
When the library publishes new reading list, the instructor of record for the course will receive an email notification. If you have questions or need to correct the textbook information in the list, please contact Instructional Technology Librarian, Anna Carlin.
