Due Dates
Log in to Your Library Account to check due dates and renew materials (when applicable). FGCU does not charge daily overdue fines for most circulating items. Exceptions include:
Overdue fines accrue over all days that the library is open. We will send a courtesy notice 7 days prior to the due date, and one day after the due date. If you are not receiving notices, contact the Circulation desk to verify your email address; you are still liable for fines and fees.
Lost status items
Items that are not returned or renewed within the loan grace period are automatically marked with a "lost" status. Loan grace periods before items are marked lost are 25 days after the due date for regular loan book, 8 days after the due date for textbooks and course reserves, 8 days after the due date for most loanable technology, 1 day after due date for GoPro camera kit and portable power packs, and 8 days after due date for a recalled book.
A replacement fee of will be charged for each item that exceeds its loan grace period. The replacement fee for course reserves and general collection materials is $100.00. Technology replacement fees vary; see Technology Loan Periods & Late Fees for a detailed list. The replacement fee will be reimbursed if the item is found and returned within 120 days of the billing date. Non-FGCU affiliates must return items within 60 days of billing to avoid replacement costs.
Damaged items
If materials are lost or damaged, the borrower is responsible for immediately reporting it to Library Circulation at 239-590-7610. If the item is already overdue, reporting the lost or damaged item and arranging to pay for the replacement will stop further accumulation of overdue fines. Borrowers are subject to overdue fines and replacement costs for lost or damaged items.
Unpaid Charges
FGCU affiliates who fail to pay overdue fines or replacement costs will have a financial hold placed on their university accounts, blocking registration and transcript requests. Library privileges may also be suspended. Non-FGCU affiliates who do not pay fines or replacement costs are subject to cancellation of borrowing privileges.
