ORCiD

In order to maximize and track your research impact, it's important that you are easily identifiable from your publications. This can get confusing as you may have a common name, change institutions over time, or even change your name. A way to avoid that barrier is by registering for an ORCiD ID. ORCiD ID is a persistent identifier that scholars can use to link their scholarly profiles and publications together. ORCiD supports several different types of work, including books, articles, magazines, newsletters, dictionary entries, translations, trademarks, and licenses.

Each ORCID ID is a 16 digit identification number.

What is ORCiD?

Creating Your Profile

You can begin building your ORCiD profile after you register for your ORCiD ID.

In your profile you can include biographical information and other names you're known by.

The main parts of your ORCiD profile are:

  • Education
  • Employment
  • Funding
  • Works

The works section is the most important section to fully complete. This will help connect you to all your research outputs.
